These days, so many of us are living in a rental, but that doesn't mean you can't make the space your own! Get ready for a list of 5 ideas to customize your space - renter friendly!

  1. Peel and Stick Wallpaper

Probably the easiest option with the biggest impact, peel and stick wallpaper works for any style and every budget. Companies like Urban Walls and Spoonflower have great options available to the public, but a designer can get you access to exclusive lines. Spoonflower even lets you upload images for custom designs!

  2. Upgrade Your Appliances

Want something more "out-of-the-box"? This Etsy store has magnetic and decal appliance covers! What a cool way to add some personal flare to your space without any permanent damages!

  3. New "Tile"

Along the same lines as the wallpaper, you can use peel and stick tile to instantly update your kitchen or bathroom! You can find great options on websites like Smart Tiles, or even at Home Depot or Amazon. I've even seen someone use these in their RV! They are lightweight, simple to install, and easy to remove!

  4. New Accessories

Replacing items like your rugs and pillows can make a space feel brand new and, of course, they simply come with you when you move! Things like pillows, lamps, rugs, decor, and artwork are all great examples of easy accessories to update. Budget Bonus: Find some new-to-you accessories second-hand at thrift shops, antique stores, and estate sales!

  5. Change The Details

To add some extra character, find some new (or antique) outlet and switch plate covers and swap them out for the old! Brands like Wallplates.com have tons of selection, and there are always great options on Etsy. Just remember to save your old switch plates so you can put them back on when you leave!

Living in a temporary (or not-so temporary) space doesn't mean you can't make it your own! There are plenty of options out there to customize every inch of your home, and put it right back the way you found it when it's time to leave.
