Transforming a Dated and Non-Functional Bathroom into a Stunning, Open, and Airy Space

This client was one of my first projects as Elbi Interiors got its start. Instantly, she and I clicked and loved working together; we got started with the upstairs bath, and the final results are gorgeous!

Right off the bat, this bathroom had some MAJOR functionality problems; the placement of the shower and sink made the room feel like a long tunnel, the tile was dated and faded, and the laundry shoot was IN. THE. SHOWER. Seriously.

First step? Gut the space. Everything was ripped out; tile, sink, shower, toilet, cabinets, drywall, and even the door. Once everything was out, it was easy to see how much space this bathroom actually had! We moved the location of the door to make room for a new vanity, and moved the shower and tub to the end of the room, turning it to maximize space. Those two changes alone doubled the usable space and left the bathroom feeling light, airy, and open.

Next step? The design! We swapped the dark and dated tile for a gorgeous green subway in the shower, and a linen-textured cream tile on the floor for slip resistance - again leaning into that light and airy atmosphere that was so lacking before. A greige vanity, black plumbing, and gold accents added some warmth back into the space, preventing the room from feeling cold and sterile.

Additional details like the product niche in the shower, glass door, simple hardware, decorative sconces, and shelving made the space feel luxurious and modern.

Every detail matters, and the story is really in the details of this bathroom. Head over to the photo gallery to take a look at more photos and details for this stunning transformation, and keep an eye out for the story behind her breezeway!
