This client had been looking to move to the Holly, MI area for years, and was finally able to make the big move! But the location of their dreams didn't quite come with the house of their dreams - we had some work to do, and we started with the kitchen!

To start, the kitchen had severely dated cabinets, filled with dead and wasted corners, horrible storage "solutions" and no pantry. The entire room was broken up by a huge peninsula with pinkish-green granite countertops.

We took out all the existing cabinetry and countertops, and tore down the entry wall to open up the space in a big way. We moved the door to the back hall, eliminating any dead corners in the cabinetry, and added a pantry and coffee bar. The island was resized and moved for better function, and the range was move into the island for a better working triangle.

After fixing the functionality, we began working on the finishes. The couple loves the rustic elements of mission and craftsman styles, but didn't want their home to feel too "Up North," so we went with shaker style cabinets in white around the perimeter to brighten up the space, with a walnut island to bring back that touch of rustic.

The existing carpet and ceramic tile were also removed to make way for a vinyl slate-look tile; easy to clean and care for, but softer on the body.

The cabinet hardware has a faceted look on the ends; reflecting the "nest-like" chandelier over the dining table.

The backsplash is a gorgeous blue, with a hand-glazed variation that give it that organic feel, and a focal tile over the coffee bar full of sketched florals - again, bringing the outside in.

Throughout the entire kitchen are bits and pieces meant to reflect the nature just outside the window, while still feeling elevated and classic. Head over to our photo gallery to see every tiny detail, including the new beamed arch, wood pendants over the island, smoked glass sconce over the sink, gorgeous quartz countertops and beautiful stone pillar marking the entrance to their new oasis!
